Sears has announced that more than 40 Kenmore smart appliances are now certified as Works with Alexa.

The certification means that the appliances meet Amazon‘s standards for responsiveness, reliability and functionality for its voice assistant.

“Kenmore, one of the major appliance brands sold by Amazon, now has 46 appliances certified as Works with Alexa,” Peter Boutros, president of Kenmore, Craftsman and DieHard brands and chief brand officer for Sears and Kmart, said in a press release. “This certification will provide even more visibility for our brand on Amazon and at Sears and it is one more way the Kenmore brand delivers a differentiated value proposition to the benefit of our members and customers. The Works with Alexa certification is a testament to our world class engineering, product development and product management teams,” Boutros added.

Customers will now be able to control select Kenmore smart appliances with the Works with Alexa certification using voice commands, such as “How much time is remaining on my dryer cycle?” “What is my dishwasher doing?” and “What is my refrigerator’s freezer temperature?”

Last year, Kenmore launched a line of room air conditioners that are compatible with Alexa and certified as Works with Alexa. In addition, Amazon Dash Replenishment became available on Kenmore smart refrigerators last year so customers can have water and air filters reordered automatically when needed.

And in May, Sears Auto Centers announced a deal with Amazon to provide full-service tire installation and balancing for customers who purchase any brand of tires on the eCommerce giant’s site. The move made Sears Auto the first auto service center around the country to offer Amazon customers a ship-to-store option at checkout. Customers can choose their tires, their preferred Sears Auto location and the date and time of the installation, and then an employee at Sears Auto will confirm the appointment.
